Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General questions

Do I have to book or can I just turn up for the lesson?

There is no need to book your lesson, simply show up for the class you want and join in with the fun!

Do I have to pay up front for a course?

No, you just pay weekly when you arrive for your class.

How long does the course run for?

All our classes are ongoing; we don't want to put a time limit on fun!

Is there a certain time throughout the year when it's best for new people to join?

It is fine to join in at any time, so whenever you are ready, we are waiting for you!

I work shifts, so won't be able to make it every week, is this a problem?

If you have to miss a lesson here and there, it isn't a problem. We always recap what we have learnt in previous lessons, so you will soon catch up. You may miss out on the fun, but not the steps!

I don't have any previous dance experience, could I still do the class?

Yes, the classes are aimed at beginners. Of course you may be a little confused to start off with, but that is normal with anything new you try! You'll soon get the hang of it!

Do you have crèche facilities for the day time classes?

No I'm sorry to say unfortunately we don't. You'll just have to charm a friend or relative to look after your little one, so you can have some time to yourself to have fun and get into shape!

Do you run classes for children?

No we don't, all our classes are for Adults. However we do plan to start children's class sometime in the future, so keep an eye on the website!

Strictly Beginners Ballroom and Latin

Do you have to have a partner to join?

It does make life easier if you have a partner, but it is not a necessity. If you do come along by yourself, there is no need to feel nervous; there are always other people there in the same position who you will team up with and you will soon get to know everyone!

What should I wear?

Just wear your usual everyday clothes.

What shoes should I wear?

Trainers are not advisable; a shoe with a smoother sole will be easier to move around in. Backless shoes for ladies are also a bad idea; you need something that will stay on your feet! It is fine for the lady to wear flat or heeled shoes, whichever is most comfortable for you.

Adult Tap Time

Do I have to have Tap shoes?

To start off with no. If you've never tapped before, I would suggest trying a few classes first, make sure it is for you, before paying out good money for new tap shoes. You can just wear your everyday shoes for the first few lessons. Once you know you want to continue with it (which you will) then you can get some, like anything having the right tools for the job is a necessity!

What should I wear?

Wear something that is comfortable and easy to move around in, nothing too restricting. Normal everyday clothes are fine; you don't have to be in gym wear for tap.

Dance Fit (Adult Jazz)

What should I wear?

Wear something that is comfortable and easy to move around in, nothing too restricting. Think along the lines of gym wear, tracksuit bottoms and a T-shirt or vest top. There will be lots of movement and stretching, so something with a little give in it.

What shoes should I wear?

Ideally, if you have them, jazz shoes or leather ballet shoes. However don't rush out straight away to buy them, try a few classes first. You can also wear socks or just do it in bare feet; trainers are OK but a little heavy to work in.
